The original fixture looks like a typical handyman install! I don't know how many times I've had to change a light fixture or ceiling fan only to find nothing was done correctly or up to code and how most handyman think a screw is a screw and don't know the difference between the different types!

I could’ve missed this in your explanation, but I also don’t recommending going above 11 merv rating. Yes they filter out more but become more restrictive and can cause issues.

Be prepared to get wet. I set up this sprinkler on a narrow side garden bed on a slope, and Oh Boy, I got soaked. Next time, I will get a hose with a shut-off value so I do not need to run to the faucet to turn off the water. Also, I did not get the spike far enough into the ground, and the sprinkler came out of the ground.

For all that are making this repair, he did it correctly. Word of advice pay the extra money for some union connections (quick disconnects) on both sides. It will save you time in case you make a mistake or the valve gets damage and can't be repaired. I learned from experience of gluing too soon and end up 1 foot high to 2 foot high 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have replaced my dishwasher 3 times over the years. Wire nuts to direct wire is easy. I will not be installing an outlet because that’s just work I don’t need to do. I suppose if it was the first install I may have installed an outlet. Very good video though. Thank you for posting it

Great video. Only thing I would have recommended is throwing in an extra $10 and putting in a CFGI receptacle. They are mandatory in many states and countries.

I've done tons and this was a good explanation as to how to do it properly. only thing I would have done differently is possibly using a GFCI (probably don't need to since not in the cabinet with plumbing) and screwed your scrap 2x4 in from the other side (which is just tougher since doing it solo). great job

What about the different BRANDS of filters? Our filter size is 18 x 18 x 1 and the brand we usually have used, Filtrete, is not always available in the size and MERV rating we like - we used to use 11, but are now looking for more like an 8 MERV. Other brands we have seen around are - Filterbuy; and also Project Source. I wonder whether the same manufacturer that puts out Filtrete, might also put out others under different names. Is it more important what the MERV is and not the BRAND? Or are some brands like Filtrete REALLY better quality than say, Filterbuy? Thanks!

I discovered the exact same "illegal" wiring situation. I am having to work around pipe and studs. Both bathrooms were wired the same! Condo builders from the 1980's got aways with a lot of "shortcuts"! 🤪🙄

Homax was too thin and sloppy. On my 2nd coat I used Zinsser and it fit a lot better, was thicker and didn't make much of a mess
